There are lots of AU piano patches and internal keys based patches (Including IAPs). Presently, I'd say this is a bug as it's a big function to be overlooked. This won't work for AUs e.g Ravenscroft as AU parameters don't seem to be revealed at this point. ![]() ![]() Not an elegant solution but it'll do for now. In the meantime, one thing I have done with obsidian piano/keys based patches is to map the sustain pedal to 'release' in the adsr. (Which it does - so it is picking up the sustain pedal) I've not had any luck with the midi controller map as a workaround because as far as I can tell this will just enable me to use the learn feature to let me use the sustain pedal to control whatever is mapped to e.g knob 1. I think it's exactly related to the implementation of midi messages - CC64 to be precise. This can be de-bunked very easily: If anyone with an external keyboard or controller plugs it in and can get notes to sustain then the problem is at my end.Īny help would be gratefully received - just trying to get some piano based material down tonight while I have the rare evening off! Loving the app apart from this so far though. Whether this is a bug or not is a question of whether you are meant to be able to load up piano based patches like electric piano and be able to sustain notes using external keyboards. I've checked all the in/out settings but if there's a setting, then I'm missing it!Īnother user has reported a similar issue using the Nanokey studio. However, neither internal or external instruments (e.g AU Ravenscroft piano) react to the sustain pedal in order to sustain notes. I can go into the midi controller map for that track and when pressing learn for e.g Knob 1 it recognises my sustain pedal as cc64 (as expected) and inserts it as '64: Hold pedal'. The app recognises my keyboard and I can play notes - but the sustain pedal has no effect. But not here for some reason.Įxample: Opened a new project with the default template and loaded an Obsidian patch - 'Electric Piano 2' from the factory preset. I've even rigged up a small little sustain switch on my iPhone that I use for convenience using midi designer over network connection - I even put it on the floor so I can use my foot! These different methods all work with every app I've tried. With internal obsidian instruments or AUs I cannot get the sustain pedal working on my external keyboards. To sustain notes while playing - particularly the piano/keys based patches. Initial disclaimer: This could be user error - I'm just a newbie trying to troubleshoot an issueīasically I'm just trying to use the sustain/Hold pedal in the same way as usual. But I still do not fully understand what sustain pedal should do to Obsidian Can you hear the "connectedness"? Which version do you like better? There is no right or wrong answer here.To me it looks not really like bug but more like simply not implemented feature. In the final part of the video, you can hear the track with the sustain effects added in. In some situations, you may want to sustain in half-measures instead of full measures as we have done here, or you may want to sustain only portions of the track while leaving certain parts "disconnected". Essentially, this sustain pattern allows the melody in each measure to flow and feel connected. Follow this procedure closely in accordance with the demonstration in the video. To do this, press and hold the command key and click near the horizontal line corresponding to "on" at every second tick of each measure and click near the horizontal line corresponding to "off" at the first tick of each measure. Since each measure contains one chord, we will sustain each measure. A common procedure is to sustain notes grouped by chords. To add sustain effects to our track, we first need to choose the parts of the track where the sustain should be "on". "On" simulates the sustain pedal being pressed and "off" simulates the sustain pedal not being pressed. ![]() The concept of a sustain is relatively simple since it only takes on two states: either "on" or "off". This will change the view in the bottom portion of the screen to the sustain effects view. As shown in the video, click the "view" dropdown menu and select "sustain". In the first part of this video, we hear a piano track without pedal effects. ![]() In the Gay Talese book Thy Neighbor's Wife, the story tells of a man who carried Diane Webber's nude picture in his wallet for fifteen years as his masturbatory fantasy.Įmpey died on Augin Los Angeles at the age of 76 due to complications following surgery for colon cancer.
