![]() Each family completes a self-assessment and establishes a written goal plan, which is built on throughout the program year through our awesome team of success coaches. Parent involvement and social services are provided with the assistance of a designated social services advocate. To achieve this, Head Start programs deliver services to children and families in core areas of early learning, health, and family well-being while engaging parents as partners every step of the way. Currently, the Early Head Start program serves both pregnant mothers and children from birth to age three, while our Head Start program provides opportunities for 855 children ages three to five and their families. Head Start programs prepare America’s most vulnerable young children to succeed in school and in life beyond school. Head Start and Early Head Start classrooms are placed in various locations throughout the county and exceed the licensing requirements set forth by the Florida Department of Children and Families. Additional services are offered to meet the special needs of children with disabilities. Children receive health and dental care, healthy meals, and indoor and outdoor play in a safe, nurturing, state-of-the-art setting. ![]() Head Start assists children in becoming physically, socially, intellectually and emotionally ready for school and life. From our humble beginning as a summer project in 1965, we have grown to become the largest early childhood program in the State of Hawaii serving over 1,500 children and their families each year.
